During the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home became the new standard. 15 years later, working in a nearby office has become a luxury. Most companies have closed their office buildings and are being run from small physical headquarters. The increase in the number of people working from home might result in more people in the same household having to share an office space.

In order to make this situation the most appreciable for everyone involved we designed a system that creates an experience that suits their wishes. EXSOM will generate an enhanced audible experience for everyone working in the shared space.

The soundscape that it plays is partly based on personal preference, specifically the person’s own listening history on Spotify. The other part is based on prior research that states which sounds are considered to be pleasant during different moods in the office. EXSOM takes everyone’s preference into consideration and mediates between these moods and will create the most suitable soundscape for the situation at that moment.
